They could be something beneficial, so don't be in too much hurry to dispose of them!

if there the size om small peas and just under the soil you can bet there snail or slug eggs.good fish food but not good in your garden.

I've found these before as well but didn't know what they were - thank's all. Last year we had a big slug problem but are trying to be more pro-active this year by spraying all the bark around the plants as they chomped their way through so much last year & I don't really like putting down lots of slug bait with having the dogs.

i dont blame you. its a good idea to find a slug and snails ideal hiding and over wintering places.generaly so there hidded in as tight a gap as possible and quit damp.then you perpasfully build some slug and snail homes.you then go round regulerly and get rid of them.best way to kill them humainly is to put them in a freezer .its true honest unless you want to drop them in boiling water.you can through them in the river as a lot of fish love them or put them on your bird table for black birds and the like.take care bye for now.
ps i do believe i smell spring today YIPPEE.

Thank you all for your comments.I will be putting some beer traps around the garden today in the hopes of catching some of these pests.I wish I could encourage a hedgehog into our garden they do a good job. Spring is in the air, mind you we have some sleet and snow forecast so lets hope they have it wrong because all the pansies and daffs look beautiful right now. HAPPY EASTER to you all. and thanks you for your comments.x

Hmmmm! Could be one of several things. Depending on size and shape, they could be slug/snail eggs which are spherical, or insect eggs such as Earwig eggs which are oval or pill shaped.
Any photograph?
