Is rubbarb easy to grow?. I love it the kids hate it.!! Had it in the garden as a small child but cannot remember much about it or how to grow it.

Sorry SBG we've just planted 3 new crowns and will not touch this year... If you really want your rhubarb to do well in future years leave alone this year! So that the crown becomes established.

Do I need to 'force' the rhubarb with one of those pots or can I leave it off as they are £59!!!

You can force it using an upturned plastic bucket but we don't bother

I left mine for a year before pulling but some people like to eat asap. hence the not more than a 1/3. :o)
I wouldnt force it until next year but even then like to let it grow un tamperred with.

yes it is really easy and relatively trouble free.
Chose a sunny site for it and dont pull more than a third of the stems in its first year. remember the leaves are posionous and you shouldnt cook rhubarb in an aluminium pan as it reacts with it.
I pop the leaves on the compost bin as the mulch done nicely.
