A large plastic planter from Poundstretcher or an old plastic compost sack or a hessian sack or what I use - old plastic cistern tanks - are perfectly adequate and will cost you a lot less!!!! You can use anything with a couple of drainage holes in the bottom!! I know I'm a stingy so-and-so lol

You know what sid your right. I'll go to the pound shop and see what they've got. The cheapest barrels I can find is £19.99 plus I have heard that they are only good for 1st earlies

Oh I'm glad i've converted you!! You'd need to grow a lot of potatoes to cover your 20 quid!! I've got Charlotte potatoes in my cistern tanks - it's dead easy, but the hard thing is keeping them watered - they need watering twice a day on really hot days. (not that we get many of those.... lol)

Look at www.crocus.co.uk and I think you'll find the potato barrel.
