Lettuce

this is my first year of growing a vegetable garden, my lettuces are flowering like mad, do I pull them up? or try to get seeds off them?

Sounds like your lettuce has "bolted", due to weather or lack of a regular watering regime. You may as well start again. Is your lettuce in full sun? I find that it does better in
some shade or tucked in among taller plants.

Yes - pull them up and put them on the compo pile so the goodness goes back into the soil for next years crop. One year, I did allow a red-leafed lettuce to flower and seed in my garden. That was about 4 years ago and STILL I'm getting little lettuce seedlings popping up around the place! I transplant them and use them too!
