Does anyone know the name of these two plants?. I visited friends today and they asked me what they were but I wasn't sure (I thought maybe the first one was a Camelia -but not certain, didn't have a clue about the second one!)

The hyacinth is like that because that's what happens to indoor ones when they're planted in the garden. Still pretty, but fewer flowers!
