Our garden in Scotland is full of them. I noticed those in exposed sites didn't flower this year, but where they are sheltered they look fantastic. They are so big and decorative in early Spring.

I have one that flowers later than my others so perhaps you have a late one.

I'm an idiot - I so nearly shouted at the kids to go and water them - honestly I am dense lol. I notice today that there are some buds developing so I think you may be right Seaburngirl! I shall hope for the best. I'm not too worried about exposure in a fenced garden in Sussex. Scottish hill-side this most definitely isn't.
