They fall off on their own, and I never bother to deadhead, except when the blooms are going brown and look awful.

Ditto Bamboo... never experienced a problem with flowering the dying flowers just drop off naturally.

I think sometimes if the Camellia's double flowered or rose flowered, they don't always drop off properly.

That's been my experience, plus seed pods have apparently been a more frequent occurence for me, also.

I don't think I've ever seen a seed pod on a Camellia... possibly because of where we live?

If you keep it from going to seed, the bush will grow more vigorously, and more flower buds will form for next year's bloom. If the buds died without blooming, it's still a good idea to remove all those potential fungal cultures, anyway.
