What is the difference between a Heuchera and a Heucherella?
I see that Bamboo's response to the London Pride question mentioned being able to tell from the flowers - but wondered if someone (Bamboo included, of course) had a more detailed explanation, please?

Yes MG, London Pride is Saxifraga x urbium (don't worry - your marbles are still intact), however Bamboo's response to an earlier question about London Pride referred to the plant in the picture as being a Heuchera or Heucherella and being able to tell when it flowers - hence my question.

When it flowers I will take another photos; any day now

Heuchera flowers tend to be more linear and heucherella tends to have a more compact flower spike. Well the ones in my garden do :o)

Spot on, Seaburngirl - heucherella is a hybrid between heuchera and tiarella - if you've ever seen the flower spike on tiarella, Roger, its much more like that. That said, I'm pretty sure the one in the photo in the other question was actually Heuchera.

Thanks Seaburngirl and Bamboo, I get the idea. In the meantime, I'm off tiarella hunting at the next opportunity I get, just so I fully understand!
Look forward to the updated pics, Great
