Here in our alkaline clay, we mix sulfur crystals with the soil when planting to make little spots in the soil where iron and other micronutrients are available to plants with trouble with high pH.

They are better in acid soils really. if you do plant it on chalk then you will need to give it ericaceous feed or sequestrine to keep it happy. they can tolerate full sun / partial shade
