My runner beans are about a foot tall and ready to go into my allotment. The earth is prepared but I am concerned about frost or wind damage. If I put some fleece round them how do I do it? Does it go round the outside of the bean sticks at the bottom or cover them quite a way up?

i agree with Ian,I think it is too cold yet.Sorry,Cammomile, but don't think fleece would protect them .

If you need to plant them and they don't make it, new planted seeds will soon catch up. I wouldn't worry to much about them!
Good luck.

My runner beans have been re-potted twice already but I'm not going to plant them in the soil yet! I personally don't think it's warm enough just yet. If you can wait, do!
