whats the proper name for the plant "bridal spray"

I always thought philadelphus was also called bridal blossom, but my aunt called it mock orange, which I discovered to be correct. I am interested to hear what the others say.

Steve's right, Spiraea argutea, though its common name is actually Bridal Wreath rather than Bridal Spray - but then common names are notoriously unreliable, differing all round the country - which is why the proper names are essential, lol!

thanks a lot - we found this interesting bush in the garden last year and replanted it. It is now in flower and looks beautiful.

My garden books calls Spirea argutea bridal wreath or foam of May and Exochorda macrantha the bride.
