Does passiflora quadrangularis grow in Los Angeles County, CA and how do you care for it? I want to plant one to cover a garden archway terrace. Also, can it grow in a large pot if kept trimmed and take direct sun?
I would truly appreciate someones expert advice.

The fruits are huge too, up to 9 lbs. in weight. They are a true tropical plant and an established vine may survive in USDA Zone 10, but ideally they need Zone 11. They can grow up to 50 feet very quickly.
If you plant it in a pot you would need a very large one. It will grow ok in a smallish pot, but the roots will be constricted and so it might not flower or fruit. This would be a shame because as Badfish indicated the flowers are so beautiful and smell gorgeous.

One of my favourites but a complete and utter thug. Should be fine in LA as long as frost free. They can grow 30 foot plus a year and have big, thick stems.
Well worth it though, the flowers are huge and smell of sherbert
