my tree fern has a very slimy smelly substance in the top of the trunk where the new fronds grow. what is it and what do I need to do? I have had it about 3 years and it has always produced loads of fronds. very confused?

Yes....just dissolve some sugar in water and pour over the top.....

Oh dear!....try and get the slimy bits out....and water with a dilute sugar solution ....and spray the trunk regularly......and keep your fingers crossed.....
