Which clematis flowers a long time, and is not too vigorous? I would like to put it near our front door (perhaps in a big pot).

Thanks a lot.
We had them in our previous garden, which we loved! Indeed very lovely, with lots of big and beautiful flowers.

Another popular one in the UK is Montana, quite prolific I think once it's established. Unfortunately none have survived in my garden so far, I must need a bit more knowledge and patience... I believe the GOY member called Spritzhenry knows a lot about them, so if you send her a PM she may be able to advise?

I have Nelly Moser in my garden. I cut it back after the the first flush of flowers have finished and give it a good feed. It then goes on to flower a second time a few months later. Flowers look better out of direct sunlight.

Hi Hilda,
Have a look at Raymond Evisons website for some great ideas. he has bred a boulevard collection specifically for your situation.
I have loads that would do the job...Ooh La La, Cezanne, Parisienne, Angelique, Filigree, Fleuri, Vienetta, fujimusume, Harlow Carr, Lord Herschell, Mieni Belle....
My best suggestions would be The Vagabond - grows 4-6 feet tall and flowers May to October and Versailles, grows 3-4 feet tall and flowers May to October.
If you have time, have a look at the Clems in my garden pages for some photographs of some of these, but also have a look at Taylors Clematis Nursery website and Thorncroft Clematis website for other ideas!
