My compost bin usually has lots of worms in it, but at the moment they all seem to have vanished. Plenty of ants though! Anyone know the reason?

Ants in the compost heap or bin means that it's too dry & needs water to be added. I've had no worms in mine either - like Spritzhenry I blame the cold weather. I found ONE worm when turning the compost yesterday, so I guess they're making their way back in.

It's possibly the chilly weather - they may still be in there in the warmer centre! No idea about the ants, unless they've made a nest in there, which is a nuisance for you when you want to use the compost.
