In sun:
Rudbeckias, especially the mid-size ones (2-3 ft. tall); perennial pincushion flower (Scabiosa columbaria); Crinum hybrids; butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa); garden coreopsis (Coreopsis grandiflora); painted daisy (Chrysanthemum coccineum); rain lily (Zephyranthes); Daylilies, especially repeat bloomers.
In shade:
Hostas (in north); Caladiums (in south); copper foxglove (Digitalis x mertonensis); Bergenia; Vinca minor; golden star (Chrysogonum virginianum); lily turf (Liriope); wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei); ornamental sweet potato (perennial in south).
