I have just opened my earlies and the chits are about 3" long, what's the best thing to do?

Plant them and they will be ok in the end. After all the potato can be buried deep and the shoots will still find the surface.

If you have a lot shoots on them you could take a few off, we have some in our shop at the allotment which are like that and we have taken them off, there are still plenty of eyes on them so they should produce plenty of potatoes. the more shoots you have on your seed pots the smaller the potatoes you harvest likewise the least shoots the bigger the pots.

Potatoes need to be chitted in a cool but light room or shed
