lavatera rescue?
My lavatera (?) has been flattened to the ground by the rceent high winds. What is the best way to rescue it to ensure it regrows this year? The woody stem is not broken but blown over and must have loosened the roots. Thanks goyers for any advice!

If its a woody, shrub like variety, cut it right down and, as Spritzhenry says, firm the soil around the root ball. These are best hard pruned in late March/early April annually anyway (assuming the weather isn't freezing).

Well, they do respond well to hard pruning, but try to firm the soil around the root area...I hope it survives.
