Has anyone any experience of making their own fertilizer from Comfrey ? I have access to lots of it and have heard that it is good for the garden but need to know quantities and how to use it if anyone could help please.

Yep its a good idea if you have plenty of the stuff, its organising the right dispenser of your "liquid gold" that is a bit tricky, the comfrey needs to be weighted on top to encourage the juices to dispense for example I used an old plastic drain pipe capped off at the bottom but with a hole in the side about
6" from the bottom where the fertilizer trickles out, obvously have a bucket to catch it underneath. The weight on top was a large stone tied with string so you can lift it out when putting in more comfrey as the old stuff inside rots down. It is quite a strong solution but diluting makes it go further anyway!
Hope this helps and good luck!

I put my Comfrey in a polythene bag and tie it tight shut...left like this it will turn to liquid fertiliser all on it's own.
Love your Heuchara babies...feel inspired to sow the seeds of mine.

Thanks for that Macpat. Might try that, its easier isn't it. Yes the Heuchera's were really easy to grow I found. I had so many I didnt know what to do with them all. So am selling them at local country market for charity.
