Hmmm...no Gazania that I have ever seen! It looks more like an Oenothera to me, but I am none to sanguine about that identification, either.

I think its Evening Primrose as well, nipped out in the rain to pinch a leaf, lol...

'Sharpie' pens are good. Just want to know what to
use to scrub them clean ? Havent seen 'Vim' for years.

Evening primrose was my first thought. Definately not a Gazania

the only evening primrose I have is an orange one and its leaves aren't 'cut'. I have 2 of these plants, clearly lifted and cossetted.

I've tried sharpies and they fade after a couple of years.
Nail varnish remover cleans it off Diane.

My evening prims don't have wavy leaves either but they are self sown wild ones. The illus in my wild flower book does show wavy edged ones though ,so it is probably oenothera. Gets everywhere, but pretty with it.
Best pen I've found is a Staedtler permanent Lumocolour, fine point. Writes on anything dry and lasts for ages.Also bright and legible.

Gallardia?

I have grown Gallardia previously so I will wait with interest.

Looking at the leaves Gazania & Gallardia both have similar leaves, I will also way with interest. :o))

Have lots to clean now. Like to re-use them.

My longest lasting labels: No. 2 pencil on a well-sanded plastic label, or a piece of aluminum can, laid on a piece of thin cardboard, and written on with a ballpoint pen--it leaves a permanent impression in the metal.

could it be a knautia, I have several and I lifted one and replanted it else where. Could these be bits from a bit of the root stock left behind.
