A friend has given me an Aconitum division that I have wanted for several years. The flower is sky blue, and blooms when Dahlias are blooming (I saw an arrangement). Would you have any idea of its name? The parent plant has been growing in Halifax, N.S. for forty years or more. Sorry, I don't have a photo. Supplementary: I happen to have the late blooming Aconitum carmichaelli in my garden (dark blue flower).... The one I was just given has light blue flowers so I will check on Aconitum carmichelli for varieties.

Hi, welcome to GoY, if it is quite a tall plant, then it coul be A carmichaelii, this grows to about 5 or 6 ft with large violet or blue flowers, or it could be a cultivar of this species, A carmichaelii ' Arendsii ', there are a few blue flowered species, varying in height from about 2 ft to 5 or 6 ft, Derek.
