Am quite fed up with being told my photos are upside down, and you guys are probably even more so ! Would someone please tell me which (if either ) of the photos below is correct, thanks.

Hank, I'll second that, the top one is good. I've noticed one of mine appeared sideways in one blog and didn't understand why.
Perhaps you could explain what you did differently between these two photos. It may help others. Thank you.

Thanks for the prompt replies.
When I send a photo from my ipad, Bamboo and some others always tell me it's upside down, and I don't know why although I've asked this before.
But I wonder if others ( particularly Bamboo) agrees with you on this occasion ?
I just have to get to the bottom of it this time.

Nearly all, if not all, of the upside down pictures on here have been sent from an iPad. I don't know the reason, though.

Ipad or Iphone pictures seem to be the culprits, you're right, Bulbaholic. I think someone on here turns their phone sideways to take a picture (the pics tend to come out sideways from the Iphone) and then it appears the right way up, but it looks as if the Ipad makes them upside down...
Hank, the first picture IS the right way up, the second one is inverted.

What I don't understand is, if when you look at your question on the site after you have put your picture on, can't you see that it is upside down?

I think, Cammomile, if you're using the Ipad, the picture you post with your question on site looks the right way up on the Ipad - just not on GoY. Incompatible software glitch between the two systems, or so my son says...

Yes first pic is correct, its was discussed not that long ago, its a puzzle that lots of us await the answer to, I have corrected all my pics taken on my tablet so in my photo albums they are correct, post them on Goy and they always rotate back, I can put the same pic on facebook and it appears the correct way, how weird is that????? I guess your son is right Bamboo, its got to be something to do with goy.

Pictures taken using my iPhone always come up upside down on GOY, yet if I post the same pictures direct to Facebook or main PC from my iPhone they come up the right way up. :(
PS: I have no problems at all with pictures taken from my iPad, even for posting on here..just the iPhone is a pain :(

Hi, I don't have an ipad, or an iphone for that matter, but my granaughter does, isn't the ipad the 1 that turns whatever you look at, the right way up, no matter which way you hold it?, if so could this be the reason ?, the mere fact that you don't know which is the right way up, until someone tells you that it's the wrong way, just a thought, Derek.

How does it know which is the right way up Derek?

Interesting reading, thanks. Actually the first, or the top photo was sent from here the right way up. But one I sent in exactly the same way only last week Bamboo said arrived upside down as have several others in the past.
So the question is - should I send 2 each time in future ? I guess not. But I'm going to the Apple store on Monday and will ask the experts there if they can shed some light on the problem.
I'll report back if they can solve it.

Hi Sue, sorry no idea how it knows, but my grandaughter showed me, she kept turning it round, and whatever was on the screen caught up, and appeared the right way up, isn't technology wonderful, Derek.

The mind boggles.

I am reliably informed by my youngest that you can change the settings on the ipad to stop your picture swivelling.

Most newer technology does that, Derek - my Nexus tablet does it - if you move it about, the picture moves... same with all smart phones and tablets, but what's happening on your device doesn't reflect which way up a pic is when you send it.

Just to add to this discussion (a little mischievously).......
As Cammomile correctly says you can lock the IPad rotation, so that the screen orientation doesn't move when you invert the IPad. Therefore if by chance Hank sends an inverted photo we just turn our IPads upside down ..... not so easy to do with a PC though .... lol. <]:-))
On a more serious note Hank, look forward to anything you get back from the Apple Store. I may have a look on the internet today and see if anything shows up on there.

Hallo Hank. The first one is the right way round, the second one is upside down.
