Hello again. can any one tell me why the compost that i have grown various seedlings in goes green when wet and will it harm the seedlings/young plants?

Sounds like moss/algae thats grows in shady damp conditions, try to improve drainage and lessen the shade and scrape off with a rake if its a lot.
