Hi, can someone please identify this plant that growing rapidly in front of my lavender bush. I suspect it's some sort of weed? Thanks in advance.

Many thanks to you both. I just wikipedia'd it and it doesn't seem to produce a flower or anything so I'll probably just pull it out of the ground.

they do flower but they are insignificant and they tend to be grown for their foliage.

Thanks for your reply. I yanked it out of the ground this morning, it had spread quite a bit and grown quite tall and was taking away from the appeal of my lavender bush.

I think it could be a dogwood (Artemesia absinthium).
