Hi, my Lavatera has out grown its space and will have to be moved to another part of the border, when would be the best time to do this?
Thanks

I agree Seaburngirl, they really don't like being moved

And in future, cut it down to the base, or 2 inches from last year's growth, at the end of March.

Thanks for all the advice, I did not do my home work properly when I purchased it and its far to large were I planted it and looks out of place which means I will have to take a chance and replant it in a more suitable position in time.

in that case prune short in march then move it at the same time. providing the ground isnt under snow like this year that is !

why not prune it back to the size you want by half in autumn then again in the spring.
