Can anyone suggest a small tree or alternatively a shrub which will do O.K. in a container 48cm x 42cm, located in a paved shielded courtyard. Ideally it should give some all year round interest if such a plant exists. John

Eunonymous (spindle) is trouble-free,slow growing and provides all year greenery. There are many different colours and varieties - maybe it's a bit small for what you wanted.
