We have this in our garden but have no clues, the pods contain seeds that look like sweet corn

It looks very like an Iris, did it have yellow flowers? Then it's Iris pseudacorus or yellow flag. These definitely have pods with sweetcorn kernel shaped seeds, and normally grows in very wet conditions. But it could be another closely related Iris.

If it is an iris you will find the leaves grouped into little fan shapes at the base - not sure |I can see this in your photo though - can you check?

Just checked my one and no they don't fan at the base.
