There are shoots from some kind of tree or weed appearing in my lawn and in the flowerbeds. I attach a photo because I do not know what it is. I wondered if it was related to the flowering cherry in the garden but that has longer leaves. I also worried it was knotweed but I don't think it is. Can anyone help identify it so that I can work out how to get rid of it please.

Do you have squirrels or an occasional visit from one ,as we do when the Hazel nuts are are on our tree? If there is anything they feel like planting they dot them all over the place at random. I have just pulled out seven 6 inch hazels from under my Camellias today. There may be a tree nearbye that is floating seeds into your garden.
