Did you all knoŵ that wasps enjoy apples

As I leave apples out for my blackbirds who visit the garden.

There are 11 wasps enjoying a bite to eat.

Shall try to get a photo.

They usually go for the more "mature" apples and end up getting drunk on them when the apples are fermenting. A drunk wasp is a nasty nasty creature.

Yup wasps love all fruit, apples, plums, cherries, we had our cherry tree cut down when it proved impossible to control the wasps but I don't blame them for wanting to eat the fruits… I read somewhere that when the wasps take the pollen to the nest to feed the grubs they, the grubs, exude a sweet liquid which the adult wasps love. Come this time of year there are far less grubs so less honey dew. The wasps have got used to having this sweet liquid so go looking for substitutes. The author suggested leaving out a small dish of jam or tomato ketchup for them!

They will feed on anything sweet. And yes Badfish, I can confirm that they do get nasty when they're drunk, as I had the misfortune to find out when I didn't notice one on the rim of a glass of cider I was drinking and it swung me on my uffer wip.
