My Cercidiphyllum japonicum is about 7ft tall (five or six years old). I'm tempted to give it a light pruning, but will this damage the tree?

Bamboo is certainly an expert, but maybe she's on holiday :(( Also, there were many questions today, so now mine is somewhat buried!

Yes - could do. I guess sometimes questions don't get a reply because GoYers simply aren't sure of the right answer?!

Or there are so many questions that they are not all seen. Bamboo will have seen this has got several answers and perhaps felt she felt she did not need to look at the question.

That's true. I've taken your advice, and she's replied to my pm . . . says there's varied advice for pruning this tree, but best to wait until it's dormant. So now I know.

Hi Sheila, not sure you can prune this tree if wants to grow to 10 - 20 metres in height. Hopefully Bamboo will have a better answer for you.
