Catterpillar idnetification please. Found this in my garden and would like to know which butterfly/moth it will eventually transform into. (Have tried 5 times to post this question with the photo but it will not let me) Please bear with me.

Thank you Cammomile. Are they beneficial to the garden?

The moths will probably help pollenate flowers. They benefit us as they are beautiful and need to be conserved. I can never kill caterpillars as they can turn into something amazing.

Elephant hawkmoth I think.

Yes that's it - we had one last year and someone on here kindly identified it. Great aren't they? The "eye" is apparently to frighten off predators.

Its a hawk moth. Someone else will know which one but they are easy to find on the web.
