I have a bush that has leaves similiar to a common hedge but softer than hedging it is about 8 ft high and has an abundance of white flowers that smell like bubble gum do you know what kind of bush this is

By common hedge I presume you mean Privet.
The plant you describe might be a Chinese Privet.
