Can anyone tell me what type of plant this is and how it can be safely removed?

It is growing along a wall and up the side of the garden shed.

It's Cotoneaster horizontalis - not sure what you mean by 'safely removed' - you might mean you want to get rid of it, in which case cut back and attempt to dig out, or you might mean you want to move it elsewhere. If the latter is the case, it might not be possible to move it to another spot - it looks fairly large, how long's it been in growing there?

Mine is covered in bees in the Spring when the flowers appear, pulling it out will just take away another source of nectar. It can be cut back hard to keep it in check.

I would not expect that this plant could be moved to grow in a different place, too large. However, there must be many seedlings about that can be quickly grown on.

It actually looks more attractive than bare wall or shed walls though, and it does no harm to them at all. I had lots of it along a fence where we lived before and loved it.

How do I say thanks?
