We've got a HUGE umbrella tree in our living room. It's about 10 years old and nearly 3 metres tall...completely overtaking the room...what can we do about it? My partner obviously isn't keen on cutting anything of it as we don't know how it will react! Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

You can cut this back to a more desirable height where it will throw out new shoots. I bet you've never repotted and pruned the roots.
One of our Australian members imformed me that in Oz it's considered a weed and a nusance. They grow next to a tree using the tree for support.
