I had a lovely show of miniature narcissus bulbs this year. They were lifted & stored in the shed. I had an empty po t& started planting up. Some of the bulbs were softer than normal.....one squeeze & up pops a white grub.....never had them before......grrrr.......pays to check?

The adult looks like a bee. One control is to make sure you hoe over or deep mulch over the top of the Daffs when the leaves have finished. The bee finds the bulbs through the hole in the soil left by the dying leaves, so the theory is that if one fills up the hole with either soil of mulch then the bee cannot find the bulb and thus cannot lay its eggs.

Narcissus root fly!. Sadly no treatment for the amateur, so all you can do is check each bulb and destroy the infected ones. We have given up on Daffodils because of them.
