I grew onions from sets in my new allotment, dried them off and then started to trim them ready for storage.
During this final process, I noticed that several onions had tiny holes in them, around 1-2 mm in diameter. And then a maggot/grub poked his head out of one of the onions!
I have attached some photographs showing the maggot in the onion and after I had removed it.
Please help!

Two choices, Onion fly or Lesser bulb fly. The latter more often attacks Narcissus but can go for Onions. Google them for images to compare with your maggot.
