I bought a variety pack of alstroemeria plants earlier this year . They were just like pieces of string .I planted them in pots in the greenhouse but nothing came of them .Could you please advise me where i went wrong Iput them in multi purpose compost was this the wrong thing to plant them in hoping you can help

You did nothing wrong, planting wise, but they were almost certainly dead in the packet.
