Can anyone identify this shrub for me. It was one of the first plants to go in my garden and the label is lost.

Is it evergreen or deciduous?

It's a shrubby Lonicera for sure, quite probably L. quinquelocularis, but there are nearly 200 species!

Well I reckon it is Diervilla sessiliflora. It is the spitting image of the one we have in the garden.

Unfortunately, owdboggy, i can't remember if it is evergreen or otherwise. I'm trying to find a winter photo.
Aster, I have looked up Pittosporum tobira and the info says that the flowers come in the Spring...these have only just emerged...any thoughts?
Ilex, as you so rightly say, there are many species of Lonicera and my limited library doesn't show any pics but I am going to look online. Thanks to all for your input.

Well, I reckon you could be right owdboggy but the leaves on mine are not glossy...the flowers are identical though and I note that Diervilla is a lonicera...so everyone is right...
I have it in the back of my head (and there's plenty of room) that it was called a butterfly bush although I could have lost the plot altogether!

The leaves on my Diervilla are not glossy either.

It could be Diervilla lonicera, or the hybrid with sessilifolia, D. x splendens which is much more widespread - all three are very similar to one another!

There is a diervilla sessilifolia 'butterfly' so that is probably the one if you remember that part of the name. If OB has this shrub you can't do better than first hand id.

Thank you to everyone....I am going to plump for Diervilla sessilifolia....thanks OB
