Victoria plum - brown rot
By Domino1

I moved house last year and have discovered a few fruit bushes in n area of the garden. Amongst them is what I believe is a victoria plum bush/tree (not very big). There were a few plums on it last year, but they all rotted before ripening. I cleared and dug around the bushes and fertilised the ground, but the same thing has happened this year. How do I prevent brown rot ruining the fruit?

I've refered to 'The Plant Expert' book but all it suggests is removing affected fruit as soon as it is spotted to prevent further infection. There is no cure or prevention.
If the tree is very old, it may be better to remove it and start with a clean, young one
