it may help to give it a lot of water as ( unless you've had rain) its been very dry and many lawns are growing brown, watering may help to dilute the weedkiller although if its too late you could try the spot lawn seed idea rather than turfing but it will need watering really well

Worst case scenario would involve digging out the dead area, replacing the soil and either sowing or turfing just that bit. I cannot see why you would need to do the whole lawn. Professional groundsmen often replace areas of turf with a new piece and it does not take very long to knit in and disappear.

roundup becomes inactive once in contact with soil. so the soil will grow grass seed now. but you will need to keep it well watered.

Hi Errol, how long ago did you kill the weeds in your lawn? Grass will eventually cover areas up to a couple of feet across without any interference on our part. Wait a couple more weeks and see if the grass starts to re-appear, If not then re-seed and add plenty of compost. There is no reason to take up your whole lawn.
Hope you get new growth soon.
