Hello peeps, first time on here. Can anyone tell me if this is hedgehog droppings or if not what they are? Back garden patio and decking area is covered even though I though hogs would be hibernating by now. Its a 2 pence coin thats next to it. Thanks

I had a good look around Google and found a very simliar question, complete with 2p piece! The replies to that did favour hedgehog. Apparently one of the distinguishing features can be the inclusion of bits of insect parts which could explain the odd bits sticking out of it perhaps?

It does indeed seem late for them still to be around but its been such a mild winter there may still be food around for them. I have an anemone in flower that's not supposed to appear until late April!

The blackbirds in my garden are leaving droppings like this. the inclusions are the pips out of the various berries they have been eating.
hedgehog droppings tend to be 'wetter looking'.

Thanks for the replies. I've found some more of these droppings on top of my bin which is about 4 foot high and although I've read hedgehogs can climb I doubt they would get up there? It could be birds. My patio area is covered along with parts of my decking.
