i grow show carrots in large 2'x4' pots, they get attacked by carrot fly, i watered the soil with jeyes fluid in autumn 2013 covered with fleece, but still got fly, i'm told they only fly at ground level, any ideas???

You could try making a 60cm high fence round the pots with your fleece instead of covering them with it, or use plastic or fine mesh either. I think you need to set out the pots in a narrow row for this to work. Haven't tried it as carrots don't grow in our soil, but have seen it recommended. Unless it would be too late for your shows sowing later avoids egg laying time, and you should also avoid thinning as the scent is stronger then and attracts them. I believe there is at least one variety that's supposed to be resistant - you might find it on the internet.
