I have always grown Gardeners Delight tomatoes, I don't take out the side shoots but stop them when they have 2 trusses. I have just read that they should be grown as a cordon, so I have been wrong all these years, any views?

if you are getting the quality and number of toms you want it makes no difference. I let them put on 3 trusses and then stop them. they are support by a cane and not cordoned. [they don't read the books anyway!] :o)

I always remove the sideshoots and allow 4-5 trusses to grow before stopping them.

I grow all my toms the same....Ilde, Shirley and Sweet aparitiff and always have decent crops.

Mine are grown in unheated greenhouse in 10L pots and fed regularly

I grow G.D. Toms every year in the greenhouse and have always allowed 5 trusses with great results.
And last year I grew them outdoors too with 3 trusses. Good results but they weren't ripe until over a month later which suited me just fine.

Thank you all for your answers, I shall try both ways this year, should be interesting.

I have grown them for many years, I do take the sideshoots out but do not stop them until they have reached the g'house roof irrespective of how many trusses there are, the top trusses admittedly are smaller fruits but still delicious to eat..

And last way into autumn don't they Lincs......

years ago the old gardeners had so many rules how to grow things, i think these days we push the boundaries

Yes Pam and last year I didn't strip my g'house until Nov and even then I had to ripen the last ones off indoors, no good growing by the old rules unless Mother Nature uses the same ones, lol...
