ID if possible please - this attractive plant seen in the Scilly Isles in late April.

A saxifrage? Don't know it, though.

Not a saxifrage, they have five petals!
I would guess with six petals that it is a member of the Iridaceae, which narrows it down to a few thousand possibles. A species Sparaxis maybe? Ixia?

Many thanks everyone . . . Googled Sparaxis and Ixia and it looks like both of them.
