i am growing pot leeks for the first time, when do i wrap them to keep the bases white, they are around pencil thick and 12 inches tall, pot leeks are grown for the girth not the length, they are allowed 6inchs from base to first button and are grown flat on ground not in holes????

when u say pot leeks do u mean leeks for the cooking pot. i grow leeks in the open ground. make a 6 /8 inch hole , a inch wide, trim some of the roots put into the hole water well plant say 9 inches apart. by planting deep you will get the white stems.
