I've sown some chard seeds which were meant to be a white stemmed variety. However all the seedlings have pink stems. They only have their baby leaves so does this mean they will turn white? Have I received the wrong seeds by mistake?

Thanks for your answer Cammomile. I suspected as much. So annoying though as I really wanted the white chard for it's supposed larger size and bigger stalks. Last year white chard (different supplier) didn't germinate at all but at least this chard is germinating well :)

You could always complain to the supplier, then you might get another packet.

Bigger isn't necessarily better though. My white has suddenly got huge wide stems this past month but I haven't tried it yet, so can't compare.

I've grown mixed packers of red, white and orange stemmed chard. I suspect yours won't change colour but they all taste the same anyway.
