My lavender plants have numerous patches of cuckoo spit.

How do you get rid of it?

Do I have to find the larvae amongst the froth or will insecticide work through the froth?

Why bother? They do little harm and only last a few weeks. The need to remove is only cosmetic really. If you must, then wash them off with a jet of water, they die very quickly out of their protection.

Leave them be, they are no problem to your lavender.

O.K. I thought they caused considerable damage. I have washed the frothy stuff away 3 times, but it just comes back. As they will do no harm, I will not waste my time.

Thanks to both of you for the advice.
