i have just been given a sunflower plant, it is in a pot in a good sunlight in my garden. but it doesnt seem tobe doing very well. the flowers have wilted. What should i do to perk it up?

I have six sunflowers in my garden (in the ground - not pots) and they are doing very well. The main problem with them is that they are very very thirsty plants. They needs lots of the wet stuff.
I don't think leaving them in pots is a good idea.
Try transplanting into the ground and water well and keep your fingers crossed.

I agree they are better in the ground. I have lots of them in my garden, but it is getting late in the year. At the end of a flowers life they bend their heads down as the seed heads are very heavy. You can cut them off as the petals fade. You can also save seed and grow in ground next year. You'll end up with many more flowers next year.

HHHHHHhhhhhhhm now i know why My Mini Sunflower didnt do well ! id kept mine in its pot 2 & it ended up Dying :( Thanx GOY members now i know how 2 get the best Display4nex yr :)

Sadly theres not much you can do now we are in august sunflowers at this time of year should now be starting to set those big flower heads into seeds.........try a liquid fertiser such as baby bio it might perk it up a bit .
