Thanks folks, does'nt it have large eyes, when I picked it up it looked as if it was staring at me as if to say put me down

The "eyes" aren't real ones though! We had one a couple of years ago - never heard of them before.

The point of the 'eyes' is, of course, to ward off predators. The moth itself is rather beautiful for a moth, with lots of pink on it...
