I enjoy growing potatoes and the 2 varieties I grew this year were great - BUT - I didn't have the sense to write them down in my book.
We only want them for baking and mashing and I've checked all the websites and can now confidently say I'm totally baffled.
King Edward appear to be as good as any of the main croppers but I want a first early. Suggestions please.

I don't think there is a first early suitable for mashing Hank.
Thompson and Morgan have a potato selection chart on the web listing many varieties and their uses - have a look.
